Beautiful Start To Workweek, Clouds & Storms Ahead

Rain chances return to the forecast on Tuesday, but we'll want to watch Thursday for severe potential.

The good times keep on rolling into the workweek after a stunning weekend. Expect mostly sunny skies this Monday afternoon as highs top out in the 60s and 70s across the board. A few scattered clouds may impact your eclipse viewing at times, especially northwest of the Metro, but most will enjoy a largely unobstructed view as the eclipse peaks just before 3:15 PM. More clouds build in overnight as a storm system approaches from the west. Scattered showers return to the WCCB Charlotte viewing area Tuesday morning, but it won’t be a washout. Highs will struggle to clear the 50s and 60s for the second day of the workweek.

A few more showers roll through our Wednesday, but temperatures will quickly recover as strong winds blow in from the southwest. We’ll need to watch late Wednesday into Thursday for the potential for strong-to-severe storms, but nothing looks overly concerning at the moment. Temperatures will fall as we close out the workweek, but highs should remain near 70° around the Metro on Friday. This coming weekend looks sunny and quite warm; highs should top out in the 80s across the Piedmont on Sunday.
