York County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Dies
YORK COUNTY, S.C. – York County K-9, Gabby has died following a cancer diagnosis, according to a news release.
Gabby was put to sleep after complications resulting from a cancer diagnosis.
Gabby was the first K-9 to receive the YCSO Medal of Valor for her actions during the January 16th, 2018 shooting incident, where her handler at the time, Sgt. Randy Clinton, was shot in line of duty. Throughout Gabby’s career, she accumulated more than 300 captures of suspects and located hundreds of missing people.
“She was a good one, for sure; if she only caught one suspect, she did her job,” said Randy Clinton. “She was an asset to the citizens of York County and will be missed, but she did her job the best she could, and we honored her as she deserved.”
