Man Deported In 2010 Now Faces Charges For Sex Crimes After Returning To Union County

According to reports, Santiago, AKA Felipe Santiago Cruz, is charged with 2nd Degree Sex Offense and Attempted 2nd Degree Sex Offense involving two different victims, one of whom is a minor. Officials with the Union County Sheriff’s Office say the investigation into these charges is still ongoing.

Deputies say Santiago was deported in 2010 by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and does not have the legal status to remain in the U.S.

An Immigration Detainer has been filed by DHS, and Santiago will remain in custody until the Union County case is finished.
