CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The head football coach at Butler High School was charged with assault on a female over the weekend.
Reports indicate that 43-year-old Brian Hales of Matthews was involved in a verbal argument with a 30-year-old woman that became a physical assault.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening around 6 p.m, in a private residence on Ashley Farm Drive.
The victim, who is a family member, was described as having “bruises and scratches” and refused medical treatment.
Coach Hales is in his sixth season as Butler’s head coach, where he has compiled a record of 67-13, and won a State Championship in 2012. Butler is 10-1 this season.
