Three Firefighters Injured Battling Intentionally Set House Fire

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Three firefighters were injured while battling a heavy fire from a two-story home in north Charlotte.

Charlotte Fire was called to the 2800 block of Grimes Street at around 2:43 a.m. on Thursday morning. Three firefighters sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries attempting to control the fire from inside, officials said.

All firefighters evacuated the structure after a “mayday” was called and a second alarm was issued at 2:58 a.m.

Charlotte Fire controlled the fire in approximately one hour. An investigation determined that the home was intentionally set on fire, officials said.

The three firefighters were transported to a hospital and have been released.

The three residents of the home and their pet were not injured. The Red Cross is aiding the residents at this time.
