Student Brings Unloaded Firearm To Elementary School

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A student brought an unloaded firearm to an elementary school in east Charlotte on Friday morning, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department announced.

The staff at Devonshire Elementary School were alerted to a potential gun being brought onto school grounds at around 7:53 a.m. 

Administrators quickly located and separated the student from the gun before entering the school, officials said.

No injuries were reported, and the gun has been turned over to police, officials said.
