19th Annual Charlotte Playground Build Kicks Off
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The 19th Annual Charlotte Playground Build kicked off at Westerly Hills Academy in west Charlotte.
Around 250 volunteers from 17 different companies came together to provide the funding and the man-power to put in a brand new playground.
Students at Westerly Hills got to design the playground themselves with the help of United Way and other volunteers.
“I think it’s an opportunity for them to get outside of their offices, to get out of their vans or wherever they’re working, and come out into the community and see the impact that they can have in a single day,” Bob Young of United Way said.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools used this event to show students the impact of giving back during Volunteer Appreciation Month.
