STATESVILLE, N.C. – The Statesville Police Department have arrested a 34-year-old man after a sexual assault investigation that involved a juvenile, according to a news release.
The release states that the police responded to a sexual assault report that claimed 34-year-old Yulian Cardona-Ibarra sexually assaulted a juvenile between February 2021 and February 2023. Police say the juvenile was interviewed at the Dove House Children’s Advocacy Center and disclosed multiple counts of sexual abuse.

As a result of the investigation, Cardona-Ibarra was charged with eight counts of statutory rape of a child and one count of indecent liberties with a child, as said in the release, and was arrested on April 23, 2024.
