MONROE, N.C. – Two lanes are closed along the westbound side of Highway 74 from Campus Park Drive to S. Sutherland Ave. due to an emergency water main repair, according to a news release.
The release states that the repair is due to a contractor damaging a 12 inch water main at 791 E. Roosevelt Blvd, with the break being in front of the Food Lion across from Atrium Health Union.
Crews finished the repairs on the damaged water main at around 9 p.m. on Wednesday night. Repairs for the road is expected to be finished Thursday morning.
The repairs were initially believed to take 10-12 hours to complete and the North Carolina Department of Transportation is requesting for the lanes to remain closed until Thursday, April 25, according to the City of Monroe.
