YORK COUNTY, S.C. – Police arrested a South Carolina woman after she fraudulently acquired over $17,000 in food stamps, according to the South Carolina Department of Social Services.
Tricia Ann Ostapowicz, 50, was arrested on Wednesday, April 24th. She was charged with one count of fraudulent acquisition or use of food stamps, valued at more than $10,000.
Between October 8th, 2020 and September 26th, 2022, officials said Ostapowicz knowingly failed to report her husband’s income, entitling her to receive benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). As such, she received approximately $17,634 in SNAP benefits.
Ostapowicz was taken to the York County Detention Center.
