Two Charter Buses Carrying Students To Carowinds For Field Trip Crash On I-85 North
GASTONIA, N.C. – A bus driver and multiple students were transported to the hospital after two charter buses carrying students to Carowinds were involved in a crash Friday morning.
The crash occurred on I-85 North in Gastonia causing one of three lanes to close at mile marker 19 near Ozark Avenue.
According to a news release, the crash caused one of the buses to run off the freeway into the woods.
Several occupants including one bus driver and several students were transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.
The crash is causing high impacts on traffic. Major delays are to be expected.
Drivers on the road should seek alternative routes.
