Update
29-year-old Zacharias Lowery has been identified and arrested as a suspect in the murder of 26-year-old James Chambers III, according to a news release. The release states that Lowery was located on May 4, 2024 by CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team and was taken to be interviewed by detectives. The release goes on to say that Lowery was taken into custody at the conclusion of the interview and charged him with murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Detectives are investigating a homicide in north Charlotte that happened Thursday, May 2nd around 10:45pm.
The shooting was on Hoover Drive near Nevin Road. Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon with injury call and located a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, according to a news release.
The man was pronounced dead on the scene by Medic.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
