SHELBY, N.C. β Two 15-year-olds were arrested and charged with murder in connection to the deadly shooting in Shelby on Monday night, according to the Shelby Police Department.
The juveniles, whose names are being withheld at this time, were arrested Thursday and are in the custody of the North Carolina Division of Juvenile Justice.
On May 7th around 7:45 p.m., officers responded to Live Oak Street in regards to shots fired in the area.
Officers located a woman lying down, suffering from a gunshot wound in the front yard of a residence.
The victim, 62-year-old Sarah Chambers, was transported to Atrium Health-Cleveland where she was pronounced dead.Β
Police said Chambers was not involved in the altercation that led up to the shooting.
This remains an active investigation.
