The top fake election news stories outperformed real election news on Facebook in the months leading up to the election.

That’s according to Buzzfeed. During those final months, the top 20 fake election stories generated more than 8.7 million shares, reactions, and comments.

The top real election stories only generated about 7.3 million engagements.
