Body Of 17-Year-Old Baylee Carver Found
ALBEMARLE, N.C. – After five days of searching, 17-year-old Baylee Carver’s remains have been found.
“Her death has impacted us a lot, but we’re trying to stay strong,” said her brother, Kingston Carver.
Albemarle city officials tell WCCB that around 4:55 pm on Tuesday, human remains were found in Cabarrus County north of Highway 49 and Route 601.
They say an investigation confirmed the remains were Baylee’s. We asked who found her remains, but the police haven’t yet replied.
The Albemarle Police Chief tells WCCB in part, “We offer our deepest condolences to the loved ones of Baylee Carver. As they mourn their loss, our hearts are with them during this difficult time…the investigation is still ongoing.”
WCCB Charlotte’s Emma Mondo arrived at The Rosebriar Restaurant for a prayer vigil in the teen’s honor as soon as we received word her remains had been found.
Mondo broke the news to the restaurant’s owner, who put the event together. She gathered everyone inside for prayer.
Baylee’s family soon arrived at the vigil, receiving hugs from everyone in attendance.
Her grandmother, Marie Carver, remembers the things Baylee loved most. “She liked purple purple. She loved puff animals and she had them all over, and would sleep with them all the time,” she said. Baylee’s grandfather, Bennie Carver, just got out of the hospital. He tells Mondo he’s thankful for all the support from his close knit community. He says, “A lot of people have been out here, and I want to thank everyone that’s been out here and hunting for her, and the people that didn’t even know us.”
Monday, WCCB reported about the red Honda Civic with the bloody napkin and fast food bag inside. Police held a news conference earlier Tuesday, before Baylee’s remains were found, insisting that investigators had already processed the car and it was standard procedure to return it to the owner.
