CHARLOTTE, NC – The mother of a teen shot in East Charlotte is demanding his killer come forward.

“Whoever did this to my son, I hope that you come forward. Cause he didn’t deserve this. He was a good, he was a good boy,” says Antoinette Ellis.

Family, classmates, even former teachers came together to share memories at a candlelight vigil Sunday night.

Zavier was shot one week ago outside a home on Sherington Way in East Charlotte.

He died two days later.

“He was a good kid. He didn’t do anything wrong,” says Zavier’s sister Miche’la.

She says he had gone to sell a cell phone when the shooting happened.

“I don’t know why this happened to my brother, but I just want him to know that we all love him and we’re all out here to support him,” she says.

Ellis was a freshman at Independence High School.

Family members say they’re sure someone knows what happened to him but may be too afraid to step forward.

They are urging those involved to do the right thing.

“He did not deserve this. And whoever you are… you (are) gonna get caught. You are,” Zavier’s mother says.

The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for funeral costs and medical expenses: https://www.gofundme.com/a8-memorial
