CHARLOTTE, N.C. —Β The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department’s Armed Robbery Unit have charged BT Wright III with two additional robberies on top of those he was already charged with earlier in the month.
The first of these new robberies occurred back on August 12, 2016 when suspects entered the Cash America, located at 2640 Freedom Drive, in the Metro Division.Β During the robbery, police say the suspects brandished firearms and demanded money from the victim business.Β After obtaining the property the suspects then fled the scene in a vehicle.Β There were no injuries reported.
The second occurred on Tuesday, November 8th, 2016. Wright reportedly entered the Metro PCS, located at 2103 N. Graham Street. Β Police say he pointed a weapon at the victims while demanding property from the vehicle business.Β Once he obtained the property, police say he fled the scene on foot.
As a result of information and evidence gathered during the investigation, robbery detectives signed warrants on Wright for two counts of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and two counts of 2nd degree Kidnapping.Β These warrants were served on Wright who is still in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriffβs Office.
The investigations remain active and ongoing.Β As further information develops it will be released by CMPD Public Affairs.
