MORGANTON, N.C. β Troopers need help identifying a vehicle of interest after police said a woman was fatally hit in the head by a thrown rock while driving, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Around 8:40 p.m., a 2006 Ford Taurus, driven by 23-year-old Brittany Elizabeth Ferguson, was traveling south on Conley Road near Jeeter Carswell Road before it veered off the right side of the road and struck a house.
Officials said the carβs windshield was hit by a thrown rock, resulting in a fatal head injury to Ferguson.
Police said witnesses saw a white Chevrolet S-10 single-cab truck driving back and forth near the incident. Witnesses also told police that a white man was seen riding in the bed of the truck.
The truck or occupants’ involvement in the collision remain unclear. A picture or further description of the truck is not available at this time.
This collision remains under investigation.
