STATESVILLE, N.C. – Statesville Police Department is investigating a shooting that resulted in a 13-year-old juvenile suffering a gunshot wound, according to a news release.
The release states that the police responded to a call regarding someone being shot on May 21 at 9:45 p.m. on Crescent Lane, near Garner Bagnal Blvd. Police say they found the juvenile with a gunshot wound in the abdomen and transported the victim to a hospital after administering immediate medical care. The victim is in stable condition.
As a result of an investigation, police identified a 16-year-old juvenile as a suspect and took them into custody, as said in the release. The Department of Juvenile Justice issued a secure custody order of attempted murder.
