CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The outbound lanes of North Tryon Street are closed near University City area due to downed power lines caused by a car crash, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
The downed power lines are at North Tryon Street near Institute Circle. Traffic lights and street lights in the surrounding area are not working at this time.
Medic said one person was seriously injured in the crash and was transported to Novant Presbyterian.
Nearly 2,000 customers are without power near the incident, according to Duke Energy.
Duke Energy is on site working on repairs. People are asked to avoid the area until further notice.
