One Hospitalized In Belmont Shooting

BELMONT, N.C. – One person is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries following a shooting in Belmont on Saturday morning, according to the Belmont Police Department.

It happened around 6 a.m. Saturday at an apartment on Alice Avenue near Andrew Jackson Highway.

When officers arrived, they located a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim, 38-year-old Andres Contreas Cervantes, was transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Police said the subjects involved in the incident knew each other, and that the shooting was not a random act of violence.

This shooting is still under an active investigation.
