Study: Weight Loss, Diabetes Drug Use Up 600%

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – If it seems like you know many more people using Wegovy these days, you’re probably right.

A new study shows that prescriptions for weight loss have skyrocketed 600% in the last three years.

That is particularly true for people between the ages of 12 and 25. In that group, prescriptions rose 8,700 in 2020 to more than 60,000 in 2023.

The biggest jump was seen in young women and adolescent girls.
