Study: Ozempic Cuts Risk Of Death By Kidney Disease

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – New research shows that weekly injections of semaglutide medication, like Ozempic and Wegovy, cut the risk of severe outcomes from diabetic kidney disease.

Overall, the risk, including kidney failure and death from kidney or cardiovascular disease, was reduced by 24%.

Researchers found for those taking the weekly injections that kidney function declines more slowly compared to those getting the placebo.

They also found the risk of major cardiovascular events, such as heart attack, was 18% lower. The risk of death from any cause was 20% lower.
