Novant Health Using A.I. To Help Catch And Treat Lung Cancer

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – New robotic technology and A.I. programs at Novant Health are working to help catch and treat lung cancer in patients far more quickly.

“The new technology allows us to give the patient a piece of mind,” Doctor Juleidy Turnipseed said.

New ion robotic technology is changing how quickly and efficiently doctors in Charlotte are able to see and diagnose lung cancer.

Doctor Turnipseed says the new technology uses a small probe to get parts of the lung that would otherwise be hard to see.

“It’s small enough that it allows you to get to more peripheral, outer parts of the lung with less difficulties,” Turnipseed said.

It’s essentially a second set of eyes that helps doctors to better diagnose lung cancer and to detect it early.

Turnipseed says early detection could be life saving, considering the survival rate for many late-stage cancer patients is only 5%.

“The faster we can diagnose you, the faster you will get the right treatment that will save your life,” Turnipseed said.
