CONCORD, N.C. – Concord Police have made two arrests from two separate and unrelated overnight shootings.
Police responded to a report of gunshots near the intersection of McKinnon Ave. and Hillandale St. at approximately 1 a.m. Sunday morning.
Upon arrival, officers say they found Mooresville resident 28-year-old Lavar Lowe with a gunshot wound to his lower calf.
Police say 41-year-old Marvin Dewon Wilson was taken into custody for shooting Lowe.
Wilson was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and placed in the Cabarrus County Jail under $200,000.00 bond.
Police say Lowe and Wilson were visiting the residence at the time of the shooting.
Officials believe the men knew each other and an argument occurred prior to the shooting.
While investigating the incident on McKinnon Avenue, officers say they were alerted to another report of gunshots close to that location.
Officers located 18-year-old Wayne Gaither III on Hamilton Ave. suffering from a gunshot wound to his buttocks.
Police say the suspect, 20-year-old Joseph Antonius Jr., was located hiding in a wooded area nearby.
Antonius was taken into custody without incident and was subsequently charged with assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to kill and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Antonius was placed in the Cabarrus County Jail under $250,000.00 bond.
Officials say Gaither and Antonius did not know each other.
Police say witnesses saw the two in an argument prior to the shooting because one had bumped into the other.
Officials say Gaither and Antonius were attending a party at the time of the incident.
Police say the injuries sustained by the victims in both incidents were not life threatening. Both were treated at CMC-Northeast and released.
