CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A suspect, wanted on several warrants, was arrested following a police chase in a stolen vehicle on I-77 Friday afternoon.
The suspect, whose name has not been released, was wanted on multiple warrants, including assault with a deadly weapon.
Around 12:20 p.m., detectives attempted to make a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle near Reames Road. However, the driver failed to stop, sped away and initiated a vehicle pursuit.
The chase lasted approximately 20 minutes and most of it was on I-77, officials said.
Police said the suspect hit another vehicle on I-77 South near Morehead Street.
The pursuit ended around 12:40 p.m. when the suspect got out of the car and ran on foot near Reid Avenue and Caronia Street in west Charlotte.
The suspect was quickly apprehended and taken into custody.
