Young Girl’s Body Recovered Following Drowning Incident At Broad River Greenway
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Officials said they recovered a body after the Broad River Greenway in Boiling Springs temporarily closed due to a drowning incident on Saturday.
Officials confirmed that the body recovered on the Broad River Greenway was a young girl.
“Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the young girl during this incredibly difficult time,” expressed Kim Duren, Executive Director of the Broad River Greenway. “The loss of a young life is always profoundly tragic, and our thoughts are with those affected by this devastating event.”
Emergency personnel were alerted to the drowning incident earlier in the day on Saturday. Crews were on the scene to conduct an extensive search and coordinate rescue.
“We understand that the Greenway is a cherished community space, and this closure may cause inconvenience,” the Broad River Greenway said in a Facebook post. “However, the safety of our visitors and the effectiveness of the rescue efforts are our top priorities.”
Duren emphasized the importance of safety and extreme caution when engaging in recreational activities in the Greenway’s waters.
