Hickory Pub Shooting Suspect Indicted

HICKORY, N.C. – A man was indicted Wednesday on charges related to the shooting involving police at a pub in Hickory last month.

Khalil Rashawn Lawrence was released from the hospital Wednesday and taken into custody. He is being charged with the following:

  • Attempted First Degree Murder, 2 counts
  • Assault with a firearm on a Law Enforcement Officer, 2 counts

Lawrence is being held at the Catawba County Jail awaiting his first court appearance.

The shooting happened at the Gateway Pub in Hickory at around 2 a.m. on May 26th. It left an officer shot and Lawrence in critical condition.

The injured officer was released from the hospital earlier this month.
