Discussion:
A heat wave will kick off our weekend with highs today reachingΒ the low 90s across the area. It will remain sunny and dry today, but as the upper ridge sinks further south and west, it will lead to moisture beginning to flow back into the region this weekend. This along with Invest 92L, a disturbance off the FL coast, will help to increase the mugginess throughout the region, as temps warm into the mid 90s this weekend. This will make it feel like the triple digits. This will increase the heat risk as overnight lows will also struggle to fall much below 75 by early next week. This stifling heat could increase the chance of heat illness. Fans will not be enough, and air conditioning will be needed to stay cool and let your body recover from the heat and humidity. The ridge will begin to flatten through the weekend, allowing a series of disturbances to bring scattered showers and storms to the region beginning Sunday and continuing through Monday. The first front won’t bring much relief from the heat, however as temps push into the upper 90s by mid-week.
