Two Adults, One Child Displaced In West Charlotte House Fire

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Two adults and a child were displaced from their west Charlotte home after it caught on fire Sunday morning due to improperly discarded smoking materials,
according to the Charlotte Fire Department.

Around 5:45 a.m., firefighters responded to a home engulfed in heavy flames on Bullard Street near Ashley Road.

The fire was controlled in approximately 23 minutes, and one occupant was treated by Medic and later released, according to Charlotte Fire.

No other civilians or firefighters were injured.

Charlotte Fire said the blaze started on the front porch before it led into the home and caused extensive damage. It caused approximately $175,000 in damages.

The fire was deemed accidental. The Red Cross will be assisting the displaced family.

This is the second fire this weekend where a family was displaced due to discarded smoking materials. On Saturday, three others were displaced from their home on Effingham Road.
