Discussion
Thursday’s cold front with cloudy skies and showers left temps 10-15 degrees cooler than Wednesday. Expect partly cloudy skies with scattered afternoon showers and isolated storms with highs reaching the low 90s this afternoon. Humidity will continue to build over the weekend with temperatures rising toward the mid 90s Saturday and Sunday. Heat indices will approach 100 with scattered storm chances Saturday afternoon. A cold front will bring more organized showers and storms Sunday. Severe threat remains low, but some gusty winds and heavy downpours not out of the question. Drier air and seasonable temps will make for a refreshing start to the next week and the first few days of July. Highs will top out in the mid to upper 80s with lows in the upper 60s. By mid-week, expect the temps and humidity to rise with isolated storm chances returning for the 4th of July Holiday.
Tropics:
Invest 95L in the Central Tropical Atlantic is showing signs of better organization and has a high chance of developing into a tropical depression or storm in the next day or two. The next name on the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Name list is Beryl. It will approach the Windward islands later this weekend into early next week.
