Charlotte-Mecklenburg ACC Prepares Pets for 4th of July Celebrations

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control (ACC) is gearing up for their 3rd annual Prep Your Pet event, designed to help Mecklenburg County pet owners ensure their pets are ready for the upcoming 4th of July festivities and the summer thunderstorm season.

The 4th of July is a time for barbecues, flag waving, and fireworks displays, but amidst the celebration, it can be a challenging time for pets. Nationwide, more pets go missing during the 4th of July weekend than any other time of the year. Additionally, this period coincides with the peak of thunderstorm activity, which can also distress pets with its loud noises.

On Saturday, June 29, 2024, ACC invites pet owners to bring their furry friends to the Animal Care & Control Adoption Center located at 8315 Byrum Drive from 8:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. for a range of free services. These include pet exams with core vaccinations, microchipping, rabies vaccinations, and pet ID tags, while supplies last. Following these services, fee-waived adoptions will be available from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to encourage pet adoptions and expand loving homes for animals in need.
