CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. – A Catawba County man has been arrested and charged with murder after he allegedly shot and killed a man during an altercation, according to a news release.
Deputies responded to reports of a person shot at a residence on Hope Road Thursday, June 27th around 5 p.m.. Upon arrival, deputies say they discovered 30-year-old Larry Whisnant dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

Shortly after police arrested the suspect, identified as Trevor O’Mara and charged him with murder. Further investigation revealed that an altercation between Whisnant and O’Mara led to the shooting death of Whisnant, deputies say.
