Two Suspects Arrested In Rowan County Homicide

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — Two men are in custody after a man was found dead from a gunshot wound in Kannapolis.

21-year-old Jai Montreal Winchester and 20-year-old Jahari Rustin, both of Salisbury, have been arrested and charged with murder.

Rowan County Sheriffs say they were called to a shooting on Carter Street in Kannapolis, where they discovered the victim lying in the roadway, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.

Witnesses reported seeing a tan vehicle leaving the scene. China Grove Police Officers observed a vehicle, matching the description, of the suspect vehicle a short time later and conducted a traffic stop near Webb Road on I-85.

A handgun was recovered from the suspect vehicle, and both subjects were identified as suspects and charged with murder.

The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of family.
