Victim And Offender Identified In Murder-Suicide Case

Update

CMPD has identified the victim in the case has been identified as 63-year-old Teresa Polk. They also identified 65-year-old Michael Ewing dead on the scene, who has been listed as the suspect in the murder of Polk.

This case has been listed as cleared due to the death of Ewing, as said by CMPD.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two people are dead after what police are saying was a murder-suicide in north Charlotte.

Just before 6pm on Tuesday, July 2nd officers in the North Division received a call for an assault with a deadly weapon. It happened on John Dale Lane near Gibbon Road.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located two people with gunshot wounds. One person believed to the the victim and the other person believed to be the suspect.

Officers say this was a murder-suicide and that the two people did know each other but police have not released any additional details on their relationship.

When WCCB arrived on the scene, police were speaking to four different people on the porch of the home.

People were in the home at the time of the shooting, according to CMPD. Neighbors say it’s a quiet neighborhood and things like this just don’t happen here.
