Police Increase Patrols In Plaza Midwood, Commonwealth Areas
CHARLOTTE, NC– “It’s always concerning when they can’t solve a problem or figure out who did it and someone is still out there,” said Peculiar Rabbit employee, John Franch.
The Peculiar Rabbit sits diagonal from the alley way where two girls were robbed at gunpoint Tuesday night after leaving Snug Harbor. So employees are now walking in groups when they leave work and offering customers the same.
“If any guest feel uncomfortable walking out late at night we’re here to escort them if they would like,” says Franch.
Eastway Division Captain Torri Tillis says they’ve upped their patrol officers after tracking a spike in violent crimes.
“Specifically right now we have a bike patrol that’s solely working within that corridor from The Plaza Midwood all the way back over to Noda,” said Capt. Tillis.
So far no suspects have been arrested in the most recent robbery or the shooting death of 26-year-old KatyJones at The Plaza and Central Avenue.
Employees at Midwood Smokehouse say they’ve added security precautions of their own since the murder of fellow employee, Katy Jones back in October, now they have a police officer, extra security to walk them to their cars here at night.
Police say they can’t be everywhere so make sure when going out you aren’t walking alone and call police immediately if something or someone scares you.
“Stay in the lit areas stay on the walking paths, try not to use the alleys to get to the easy access way to get to your car for parking you may have to take the long way around,” said Capt. Tillis.
