Man Killed In Boone After Striking A Deer

BOONE, N.C. – A man driving a four-wheeler was killed in Boone after hitting a deer on Saturday night, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

It happened at approximately 11 p.m. on Briarwood Lane near Big Hill Road in Boone.

Carl Scott Norris, 38, was traveling west on Briarwood Lane on a Suzuki four-wheeler when he struck a deer in the road, the highway patrol said. The collision caused Norris to lose control and overturn.

Norris, not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the ATV and died at the scene.

Neither speed nor impairment are believed to be contributing factors at this time, the highway patrol said.
