BURKE COUNTY, NC — Deputies are looking for any information about who may have shot and abandoned multiple cats near the Cleveland County line on Friday, December 9th.
According to Burke County Animal Control, a caller reported finding multiple cats abandoned about half a mile from the Burke and Cleveland County line at a pull off on the side of the road. Deputies responded to the area and found about 10 cats, some of which had been shot.
Three of the wounded cats were still alive, according to reports, and two were found uninjured. The five cats were taken back to the Animal Control Shelter for treatment, but the three that were shot did not survive.
Officials say the two surviving cats have been taken to Burke County Friends for Animals.
