Discussion:
A weak tropical disturbance is bringing some much needed rain to the Carolinas this morning. Showers and some storms producing heavy rain will be likely for areas east of I-77 with more scattered showers and storms west of I-77. Temps will be cooler east of I-77 with highs in the mid to upper 80s and closer to 90 west of I-77 today. Localized flooding is possible for areas east of I-77 with the flooding threat increasing the closer we get to the coast. As this low moves further inland it will weaken and dissipate over the course of the weekend. Temps will be hot this weekend with highsΒ in the mid 90s, but it will feel more like 100-103. High pressure off the coast and to the east will make for a stable, but steamy forecast next week. Dangerous heat possible with heat index values well into the triple digits. Mid-week we may see some relief with rain and storm chances increasing as a disturbance wedges into the area from the north.
