CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A 13-year-old and a 14-year-old were arrested Wednesday after an armed carjacking in west Charlotte.
It happened on Tuesday night around 9 p.m. on South Summit Avenue. Police said the victim’s vehicle was stolen at gunpoint by two suspects.
This morning around 10 a.m., officers responded to west Charlotte after a License Plate Reader spotted the stolen vehicle.
Officers quickly located the vehicle Queen City Drive and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The suspects failed to stop and a pursuit ensued.
The chase went onto I-85 into Gaston County before returning northbound to Mecklenburg County.
The pursuit ended after the two suspects ditched the vehicle and ran on Hickory Bluff Court near Tuckaseegee Road, police said.
Both were arrested and identified as two juveniles, ages 13 and 14.
Officers also found a handgun in the stolen vehicle, CMPD said. Police did not say what charges the two juveniles will be facing.
