CONOVER, N.C. — Authorities say officers shot and killed a suspect accused of attempting to strike officers with his vehicle in Catawba County.
On Monday, July 22nd at 6pm members of Catawba County’s Special Tactics and Response (STAR) Team attempted to apprehend a suspect wanted on several felony and misdemeanor crimes committed in Catawba County, according to a news release.
During that attempt, the suspect, 33-year-old Pierre Ramseur, of Hickory, refused to comply with instructions to exit his vehicle, according to a news release. Authorities say Ramseur then struck several law enforcement vehicles and a private vehicle in an effort to escape apprehension. He was then shot and killed by STAR members as he approached other members of law enforcement with his vehicle, according to authorities.
This incident occurred in a parking lot at Elite Comfort Solutions, which is located on Farrington St SW in Conover.
Ramseur was wanted for Second Degree Kidnapping, Common Law Robbery, Felony Larceny, Misdemeanor Larceny, Communicating Threats, Injury to Personal Property and had an outstanding Domestic Violence Protective Order that deputies were attempting to serve. He was also out on bond after being charged with Murder in an unrelated incident, according to a news release.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI) has initiated an investigation. The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office and other involved law enforcement agencies are cooperating fully with this investigation.
