Charlotte Pastor Arrested For Multiple Armed Robberies

UPDATE: John Lindsey has been identified as the Pastor at True Love Church of Refuge in southwest Charlotte.

The Church released the following statement regarding the incident:

“We, the leadership and membership of True Love Church of Refuge, are deeply saddened and disappointed that our leader and brother, John Thomas Lindsey, is facing charges associated with criminal activity. Though we denounce any involvement he may have had, we love him and will continue to pray for him. The ministry will continue to stand strong despite the latest allegations and will continue to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom.”

UPDATE: According to police, 47-year-old John Lindsey has been arrested for his role in multiple armed robberies at convenience stores throughout the Charlotte area.

Lindsey is charged with nine counts of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, nine counts of Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Police are still looking for the suspect they say robbed a Circle K and a 7-Eleven on Monday and Tuesday after Christmas.

According to CMPD, the first robbery happened around 11am Monday at the 7-Eleven on Freedom Drive. The second was around 1:20pm on Tuesday at the Circle K on University City Boulevard. In both cases, police say the suspect robbed the businesses at gunpoint and took off.

The suspect is described as a black male, 6′-6’1″, heavy build, 30-40-years-old, beard, and last seen wearing a black toboggan, grey zip-up hoodie, black shirt, blue jeans, and tan boots.
