Ranlo Native Kaylyn Brown Sets World Record With Team USA At Paris Olympics

RANLO, N.C. – Ranlo and Gaston County native Kaylyn Brown helped set a new world record for the U.S. Olympic Team during the 4×400 mixed relay.

In the semifinal heat, Team USA – Vernon Norwood, Shamier Little, Byrce Deadmon and Brown – combined for a 3:07:41 time, a new world and Olympic record.

Brown ran anchor for the national team and ran a 49.4-second leg, just three-tenths of a second slower than her personal best.

The previous world record was 3:08:80, which was set by Team USA at the 2023 World Athletics Championships.

Brown still resides in Ranlo with her parents. She attended Brookside Elementary School and Holbrook Middle School.

Brown and her teammates have a chance to win gold at the Paris Olympics. The 4×400 mixed relay final is set for Saturday, August 3rd at 2:55 p.m.
