Two Arrested For Robbing Restaurant In Huntersville

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Police say two men were arrested for robbing a restaurant in Huntersville.

Investigators say Olvin Nahun Rivera-Lopez and Juan Alberto Flores went into the La Mexicana restaurant on Sherrill Estates Road on December 30th, pulled out a weapon, fired a shot inside the restaurant and robbed the business.

Witnesses say the duo was last seen leaving the area in a vehicle.  Police say they located the suspects on I-77.  The suspects are accused of hitting several police vehicles with their vehicle before fleeing on foot.

Police say the suspects were caught a short distance away.  Police also believe the duo are linked to other similar robberies in Charlotte.

Rivera-Lopez has been charged with robbery with a firearm, conspiracy to commit robbery with a firearm, discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling and resisting an officer.

Flores has been charged with robbery with a firearm and conspiracy to commit robbery with a firearm.  Flores reportedly has other unrelated outstanding warrants.
