Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control Shelter Beyond Max Capacity for Dogs

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control is over capacity once again in the dog kennels and is asking for urgent help to save lives.

Unfortunately, euthanasia decisions are having to be made today. In the last 7 days, 121 dogs have entered the shelter. Currently there are 203 dogs in the shelter and 282 dogs in foster care. When this many dogs are in care, capacity for care becomes a challenge.

Please consider foster, adopting or taking a dog for a staycation.

How You Can Help:

1. Foster a Dog: Open your home temporarily to a dog in need. This not only gives the dog a break from the shelter environment but also helps us manage our capacity.

2. Staycation: Take a dog home for a short staycation. This can be a great way to give a dog a much-needed break and helps free up kennel space.

3. Adopt: If you are considering adding a furry friend to your family, now is the perfect time. You’ll be making a life-saving difference for a shelter animal.
