LANCASTER, S.C. – The Lancaster Police Department have charged 21-year-old Jimmy Knight with murder for his involvement in the death of 44-year-old Jaime Nejera in May, 2024, according to a news release.
The release states that Nejera was found not breathing on May 15 on Westgate Circle off of West Meeting Street.
After a two-month long investigation, police say they charged Knight with murder on August 5, while he was in custody on unrelated charges.
“Our detectives and officers worked a lot of hours investigating this case and established the evidence needed to obtain warrants on the suspect. I am proud of the dedication and hard work our officers and detectives demonstrated in this case to seek justice for Mr. Paz Nejera’s family. It is our constant duty to pursue justice for the victims and their families, and we are grateful to all our law enforcement and community partners for their collaboration throughout this process,” stated Chief of Police Don Roper.
