ORLANDO, FLORIDA – At most weddings the bride is the center of attention, but at one ceremony in Orlando the bride shared the spotlight with seven special needs women she works with.
Eight brides walked down the aisle, but only one was was joined at the alter with her groom. Vantrease Blair is a 3rd generation Executive Director of The Russell Home in Orlando. Vantrease grew up with many of the special needs women who still live in the home. “And I wanted to give them the wedding of their dream, and luckily enough, I married someone who was right on with that,” said Blair.
Even though the girls were officially bridesmaids, they got do to everything a bride would get to do to prepare for her big day. They have a wedding album, picked out flowers, cakes and even their wedding dresses. After the wedding the newlywed couple held two receptions; one for them and one just for the seven lucky ladies.
