HICKORY, N.C. β Hickory Police are investigating a fatal vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a 76-year-old man, according to a news release.
The release states that on August 6, Hickory officers responded to a two-vehicle rash on Old Lenoir Road, near Hwy 321.
After an investigation, officers determined that 76-year-old Bobby Ray, driving a 1990 Ford Ranger, attempted to turn left when he was struck by 21-year-old Evan Lackey, who was driving a 2010 Ford Mustang.
According to police, the Mustang struck a building after the collision and Lackey was transported to a hospital. Ray was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
