Denver Woman Charged With Jewelry Theft

LINCOLNTON, NC — Police say a Denver woman has been charged with stealing two diamond rings from a jewelry store on January 6th.

According to reports, Regina Hunt, 56, came into the store on Friday and took two diamond rings valued at just over $2,000. When the owner, Walter Belfield, realized they were missing he called Hunt who admitted to having the rings. Hunt told Belfield that she would keep them in a safe place, deputies say.

When Hunt failed to return the rings, Belfield called authorities. Hunt was arrested at her home Wednesday and charged with felony Larceny and Possession of Stolen Goods.

Detectives say they did recover one of the rings at the time of arrest.
