Family of Man Shot by Club Owner Speaking Out

YORK CO., SC– “He left behind a daughter, a family, he’s 28 years old, we were just getting our life together,” said fiancé Treasure Nalley.

Treasure Nalley says the story being told about her fiance, Christopher Elkins’ death, is not what really happened and she wants justice.

“No one told us to leave, there was no altercation that involved Chris at all , that’s all completely, just lies, just lies,” said Nalley.

York County Sheriff’s Office responded to the shooting at The Hideaway nightclub in Rock Hill early Sunday morning. Seventy-six year old club owner Mack Teal told deputies Elkins and friends were told to leave after a fight. Teal says Elkin assaulted him while trying to to get back inside… so he shot him.

Treasure says Chris was just going back in to get her purse.

“Chris never touched him the man shot him, when Chris had his hands up,” said Nalley.

Treasure says Teal’s criminal record shows his violent past. We did our own digging and found Teal has a long list of criminal charges including aggravated assault, unlawful carrying of a gun and a murder charge in 1983. He was found not guilty by self-defense.

Elkins’ family says he was never violent and now they want Teal charged for taking their loved one.

“Very family man, goofy just, he loved everybody he came across, he wouldn’t even hurt a fly,” said sister, Samantha Elkin.
